About Dr. McSheffrey

Dr. Savannah McSheffrey received her undergraduate degree at the University of South Florida and her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. She completed an APA-accredited Clinical Psychology internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Boston VA Healthcare System with an emphasis in treating PTSD. She received specialty training in trauma focused therapies including Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).  

Following fellowship, Dr. McSheffrey worked at the Rhode Island Hospital Partial Hospital Program and was a clinical assistant professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. From 2017-2020, she worked in both the trauma and DBT specialty tracks and helped hundreds of people on their healing journey. In 2020, she returned to her home state of Florida to work at the Department of Veterans Affairs where she is passionate about serving Veterans in the PTSD clinic.

She has spent years co-authoring scientific publications and providing clinical supervision to psychology graduate students, interns, and fellows. She specializes in training psychology students in evidence-based treatment of trauma, anxiety and mood concerns. She is dedicated to continuing to offer consultation and supervision.

Dr. McSheffrey is dedicated to creating a warm and non-judgmental environment and providing science-backed tools and techniques for healing. She has expertise in treating PTSD/trauma and difficulties with emotion regulation. She has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds with a large range of presenting concerns.
